Gynecomastia in Bodybuilders

gynecomastia

Gynecomastia (Gyno) is something that always worries a man who uses anabolic steroids. Gynecomastia is the a deposition of adipose tissue on the breast in men.

The word gynecomastia comes from the Greek “gyne”, meaning “femenine”, and “mastos”, meaning “chest.” Up to 65% of cases of gynecomastia are completely natural. If your family had cases of gynecomastia, then it may manifest itself. However, not all cases of gynecomastia are natural. There are many medicines that can cause it to appear. These drugs include anabolic steroids.

When the athlete takes synthetic hormones, they are exposed to the process of aromatization. This process turns some of the male hormone into estradiol C female hormone. And when an excess of female hormones accumulates in the athlete’s body, he begins to notice such side effects as fat deposition, water retention and gynecomastia. However, this does not mean that everyone should take Nolvadex when using steroids.

Not everyone will experience such side effects. This is due to the fact that everyone has a different sensitivity to the female hormone estradiol. In some, these effects can occur even from 10 mg of dianoxyl per day. While others won’t have such problems from 1 gram of testosterone per week.

On the other hand, there are drugs to avoid gynecomastia. The most popular of them is Nolvadex, because it is cheap, and it works. Usually 10 mg of Nolvadex per day is enough to prevent gynecomastia. However, you should always remember that anti-estrogens have another side of the coin. Helping to control the side effects of steroids, they at the same time reduce the efficiency of the cycle, because in order for muscles to grow together with male hormones, some amount of estradiol is required. If you use antiestrogens, then estradiol may not be enough, and the cycle may be less effective for muscle mass gain. For this reason, Nolvadex should only be used when it is really needed.

Usually you can easily determine when you need to start taking Nolvadex: if you feel irritated in the nipples, itchy around the nipples, a small swelling under the nipple (which means that you already have gynecomastia), and / or clear secretions from the nipples. While there are many methods to prevent gynecomastia, there is only one way to get rid of it – an operation. Usually, an incision is made at the border of the nipple during the operation and the deferred tissue is withdrawn. Then liposuction is used to give shape to the muscles of the chest. The operation leaves virtually no traces. Light exercises are allowed from the second week, and full recovery is expected in 4-6 weeks.
